Our Story.

Welcome to our site. Here you will find our story. How it all came about, who we are, who was involved in the project, how the cube developed and what our mood was like.

It all began in 2017...

Have fun reading :)

The idea is born

The idea is born

Nov. 2017

On the ccc #glühpn Adrian sees someone playing around with a single 32x64 panel. He has the idea to build a cube out of such panels and to program a fluid simulation on it. Since the materials are very expensive and Adrian has enough projects going on, he first rejects the idea.

Introduction Adrian

Introduction Adrian

Adrian is an excellent software and hardware developer. The trained web developer started his own business, a company for drone recordings, early in his carrer. Adrian always has several projects of different nature going on, is strongly committed to environmental protection and has been studying computer science since 2013. In 2014 he started to fly paragliders and met Hannes.

Introduction Hannes

The proximity to the mountains and the associated opportunity for paragliding, that comes with that, brought the trained cook to Kempten where he studied mechatronics. During his studies he also started his own business to produce CNC milled GFRP and CFRP parts.

Friendship & Projects

Friendship & Projects

Adrian and Hannes became close friends from the moment they met. They have already realized some smaller and bigger projects together, such as building RC drones, electronics or video projects.

But the probably biggest project so far is the LEDCube.

Without David, the project would have never existed

Without David, the project would have never existed

David is one of Adrian's classmates. He likes to program smaller things and helps a lot with the Cube. He is also very interested in other nations and is currently learning Korean, among other things.

David talks Adrian into building the cube after hearing about his idea.

Adrian orders the parts the same day.

Adrian and Hannes build the first prototype with wooden blocks and hot glue. They make it work with a software library and hardware from Henner Zeller. When the cube lights up for the first time, time stops in the basement. Everyone just stares at the cube, unable to grasp any other clear thought than "OMG".

We're takeing the Cube to the Chaos Communication Congress in Leipzig. A lot of people are enthusiastic, the feedback is positive, the experiences are incredibly nice and encourage us to continue.
